Worth A Shot, U.K. Brain Bee team up for the Seattle Brain Bee

The Seattle and U.K. Brain Bees are both programs of the International Brain Bee (IBB) founded by Dr. Norbert Myslinski. His goal was to inspire youth to pursue neuroscience so they can grow up to find cures for brain disorders. The Seattle Brain Bee took place in Redmond, Washington, in February 2024. The top 3 winners were announced and the first place winner advanced to the National Brain Bee.

Worth A Shot Welcomes New UK Chapter Head

We are excited to welcome Martyna Petrulyte as the new head of Worth A Shot’s efforts in the UK. Martyna is a current Master’s student in Biological Sciences at the Clemson University. She is a Biology Olympiad coach at Crimson Education with over 10 years of experience in science olympiads and competitions. In 2017, she graduated with a First Class degree in BSc Biomedical sciences (Anatomy) from the University of Aberdeen, winning the Best Anatomy Student Award. Later, she completed a Science Communication course at the University of East Anglia and obtained a certificate in Events Management at the Event Academy in London. Her students are winners of many biology olympiads and science competitions, including the International Biology Olympiad and Brain Bee. While in school, Martyna won 3 gold medals in the Lithuanian Biology Olympiad and 2 bronze medals in the International Biology Olympiad. She has also been awarded many prestigious research internships, scholarships, and prizes, including Young Talent 2012 Lithuania award, SEB Bank Award 2013, and Star Award 2017.

We are additionally excited to announce our first event in the uK on February 18th at 7 pm UK time (flyer attached below), with Dr. Natalia Murinova from the university of Washington on the latest innovations in neuroscience and how youth can get involved.
