Where we work

India

  • Volunteers with our chapter in India are working with students in schools about protecting themselves from the most prevalent infectious diseases including dengue, malaria, and COVID-19.
  • We’re teaching them to recognize the common signs and symptoms so they can be informed and bring the information back to their families

Haiti

  • Worth A Shot is working with UDH Health Coach to educate and empower the next generation of Haitian and Haitian-American medical students.
  • Our program aims to strengthen Haiti’s public health system and support new healthcare practitioners. Our online sessions engage UDH mentors (healthcare professionals) with Haitian medical students. we train the next generation of medical professionals so they can utilize their talent to improve the level of medical care provided in Haiti while strengthening their professional identity.

Nigeria

  • Our chapter in Nigeria, led by our new chapter head, is collaborating with local governments to promote girls’ education in the country.

U.K

  • We’re collaborating with the British Brain Bee to promote neuroscience among young people. In partnership with them, we organize the Seattle and U.K. Brain Bees. The International Brain Bee was founded by Dr. Norbert Myslinski, a neuropharmacologist who wanted to encourage youth to explore the wonders of the brain so they could go on to find cures for neurological disorders.
  • The winners of regional Brain Bee chapters go on to their national brain bees and later to the International Brain Bee (IBB).
